This weekend was supposed to be filled with Annecy, France and Swiss castles, but because of the bise (an extremely cold wind all the way from Siberia) it is far to cold for the castle. In fact, on the way to the bus depot this morning I thought my face might freeze off. But once we got there, besides being slightly warmer than Geneva, we all realized it was worth braving the freezing cold. Here are some pictures of the canal and some of the buildings in the old town.
During lunch, I had some vin chaud, which basically tastes like hot sangria and is absolutely delicious. And warms one up pretty well also. I also had a dish which is pretty much sausage, cheese, and potatoes. The French know what's good, that is for sure.
Here are some more canal pictures, many featuring the Palais de l'Isle, a jail in the middle of the canal.
After the prison excursion, we went up to the castle. The Château d'Annecy sits on top of the city and features breathtaking views of the city and nearby mountains. It makes one feel as if he or she is in a fairy tale.
When we finished up with the castle, we went down by the lake and got some more great pictures of the mountains and the lake itself.
For the last stop, we went to the Eglise Notré Dame.
So now, instead of freezing tomorrow in minus temperatures, I will be spending the day doing homework and getting ready for Super Bowl XLVI. Go Giants!!!!!
