Easter Break in Como: Day 1

After almost three months in Geneva, Easter Break was upon us. Thank you Switzerland for having both Friday and Monday be bank holidays so we had a nice extended break. Italia, here I come!

Because the trains on Friday were crazy crowded with travelers on Friday, the train we got was for 5:35 am. To get to Como, which is located in Northern Italy along Lake Como (coincidence, I think not), we took the train to Milan. Not too impressed by that city. Just saying. And finally, we were in Como, most famously known for being the namesake of the lake George Clooney owns a villa on.

First order of business? Food time! Cue delicious pizza topped with spicy salami appearing in front of me, followed by gelato. Coffee and chocolate flavored. Man do I love Italian food.

On Good Friday in Como, there is a procession instead of having separate masses all over town. This actually turned out to be a very good way to tour around the town. And so many people were apart of it. It started from a church and went around in a circle through the main square and back to the church.

After church, it was time to explore some more. Which basically meant that we explored up until the point when we found dinner. We were just looking around when one waiter kind of summoned up over, game us a hug and sat us down. Not a terrible way to bring in business. I had some scallopina (a veal dish in white wine sauce) and potatoes. After dinner, we just strolled along the lake until the exhaustion took over.
