Easter Break Day 3: End of Como and Lugano

As the hours wound down on our Easter break, it was time to venture back to Geneva. Before that adventure, it was church time in Como and the trek up to Lugano, which is located in the Italian part of Switzerland.

We woke up nice and early on Easter day to go to church. An Italian mass on Easter? I felt so cool. And it only lasted 45 minutes. They do not waste their time. After a scrumptious lunch of gelato (dark chocolate and coffee for any food enthusiasts out there), we walked around the lake one last time before our afternoon train to Lugano. And of course we had to have a little photo shoot with the big hands again. Which failed. But hey, you only live once.

Lugano was absolutely beautiful. After a half hour train ride, we arrived at this Swiss lake city surrounded by green mountains. It is also home to the bluest water I have ever seen. However, this would all have been so much more beautiful and amazing if not for the wind. Wow that wind was something ferocious. Once we traveled through the civic park, which was home to some gorgeous flowers, we sat down on a bench for almost an hour, reading, taking in the beauty and listening to music. If it weren't for the wind, which made it feel as if it were 20 degrees cooler than it was, we could have stayed there until it was train time. Alas, luck was not our friend, so we had to make our way into the city to try and find some relief from the cold.

We took the 7:12 to Luzern. An hour into the train ride, I looked outside and it was as if we had been transported into Narnia. We were surrounded by snow covered mountains. It was insanity. Only an hour away from blue and green was white. After we got to Luzern, we went to Bern, then transferred in Lausanne, and then finally made it back to Geneva at 2:30 am. It was an exhausting day of travel, but completely worth it. Italy, man! Now that was one amazing place. And I didn't even go that far into the country.
