To finish out our Saturday Swiss adventures, we made our way (by train of course) to Thun. We were told that this lake city (on the edge of the Lake of Thun) had a nice chateau on the water. Alas, this was not the case and the Foder's guide to Switzerland lied to us a little bit. We did find a chateau, but not on the water and not terribly exciting. But the city itself..... man, that was something. Mountains were everywhere! And the water.... I swear I will never again see water as blue as I saw it today. I could see a duck's webbed feet kicking through the water perfectly. And the pretzels. Oh my, the pretzels. There are so many foods I am not going to able to enjoy as much when I get back to America, and you can add pretzels to the list.
And just for kicks, this is the type of thing that happened on the train back to Geneva. We kind of went a little crazy. And I almost fell asleep so many times. But we were able to monopolize the couches. So it was a success anyway.

Interlaken
After our mountain and waterfall viewing adventure, it was time to have a mountain and lake viewing adventure. Since it was well after lunch time, we stopped at a little beach in Interlaken to eat and take some nice photos of Brienzersee (Lake of Brienz) and the surrounding mountains. As you can see, kind of ugly place for lunch, am I right? We really do not know how to find the beauty of Switzerland at all. And for those of you who do not know me, that is all sarcasm. Best lunch place ever.
Then we explored Interlaken, which surprisingly didn't have all that much to do. Really just a place one goes when they want to have some outdoor adventures, so the city itself is not that intriguing, at least the tiny part we went to. But then we found a green field with a gorgeous mountain backdrop. So, of course, my friend Cecilia and I frolicked in a field like a pair of loons, trying to recreate our Sound of Music fantasies. Yes, I know that takes place in Austria, but close enough. Judge us if you please. It was a magical time.

Lauterbrunnen
After Mürren, we traversed back down the mountain via cable car to Lauterbrunnen. This little town is most known for its 70+ waterfalls (of which we successfully saw 20. Not too bad) and the name translates to "only springs" in German. The town itself has a ton of hotels and hostels and is obviously used as a jumping off place for places such as Jungfrau.
Also, this place had me singing "Don't Go Chasing Waterfalls" for the rest of the day. You win this round, Lauterbrunnen.

Mürren
Yesterday, Saturday March 31, was another eventful day where we visited four (that's right, I said four) Swiss towns. First up, we took a train to Interlaken, to take a train to Lauterbrunnen, and then took a terrifying cable car ride up the mountain to Mürren.
Mürren is an interesting little town. There are basically no cars around at all, and we even witnessed a man skiing down a hill from his house. Probably going to do some errands. It's very small and quaint, but the views are some of the best I have seen. It overlooks the Lauterbrunnen Valley, and mountains are everywhere. From what I could tell, we saw Jungfrau and where Jungfraujoch is located (which is called the Top of Europe, and has views of the Matterhorn). Pictures galore were taken, so I'm just going to jump right in to those.

Snowshoeing: Take 2
To finish off the crazy busy weekend, I went on the program outing to Saint Cergue. There, we snowshoed up the Jura Mountains to the top and all the way back down. Kind of aggravated that it wasn't a hiking trip, but hey, you only get to snowshoe on the Jura a few times, right? I did not kill my legs this time around, but it was still tiresome. And I'm still a little sore. And we all did almost die a few times. I don't know why they thought taking a group of amateur snowshoers down the most treacherous path was a good idea. Slid a few times, but we all were so close to falling down the mountain. Very stressful, very difficult, but very, very beautiful nonetheless. Now, here are some cool mountain pictures.
